BIFOCALS places professional arts practice at the heart of its community in South Cumbria and accross the county . For more of our work involving community groups, click the link below.
Founded in 1999 on Barrow Island, Barrow in Furness, Cumbria and reconstituted in 2013 BIFOCALS has worked with schools and community groups across the north on visual arts , video, soundworks, and outdoor education projects exploring locale and local identity. We've looked at the past, present and at how they can be interpreted and driven in order to shape the future. We've worked with visual artists, actors, technicians, musicians, writers, dancers and theatre professionals on projects of varying scale with the common conviction that art and creativity are agents of autonomous re-generation within communities, and for exploration and expression in individuals of all ages. Via the link below you can find some examples of earlier BIFOCALS projects including short films, sound pieces and Glenn Boulter's work as resident artist at Barrow AFC during our Sightlines project on football , art and community as well
as an acknowledgment of supporters past and present."
